CHILDREN FIRST

Who We Are

Introduction- Who We Are

In Greece, 500.000 children live at risk of poverty or below the poverty line. Πρώτα το Παιδί - Children First was founded in 2019 because we felt the need to empower the most vulnerable children living among us.

Our aim is to help reduce the inequalities these children face as a result of the ongoing financial crisis and its repercussions, especially on the most vulnerable members of our society.

We work with our beneficiary families by creating a holistic program for each child with parallel interventions in the key areas of child development: nutrition, education and medical care, as well as mental health support via counseling with a psychologist. In this way, we create a long-term perspective for the children’s future.

Pillars of Action

Nutrition

Daily, quality nutrition, customized for each child as well as monitoring by a nutritionist in order to help the children develop properly and improve their eating habits.

Education

Foreign language courses, extracurricular activities and digital education, so that the children gain knowledge and develop useful skills for their future.

Medical Care

Preventative medical care and regular monitoring by a pediatrician, a dentist and other medical professionals. Coverage of the cost of medical exams and vaccines.

Counseling

Regular counseling sessions with a psychologist for the parents and special interventions with the children when needed, so that they can make better use of the goods and services we provide and to help them better manage their ongoing difficulties and challenges.

Our Impact

Through our holistic approach, we are able to improve the children’s health, help them develop necessary competencies for their future and for their socialization. At the same time, we help ease the financial burden of the parents, we support them through the counseling we provide and we assist them to reintegrate into the community.
