Girls Empowering Girls
Empowerment of Mothers and Girls in Need
"I'm unemployed and have no health insurance. For a while, I had wanted to take my daughter to the dentist and for other medical checkups she needed. During the pandemic, health centers were accessible only for emergencies and I was unable to pay for private doctors. Fortunately, thanks to the assistance I am receiving now, I was able to take my child to the doctors she needed to see. Now, I feel more at ease."

Assistance to Single Mothers
94% of single-parent families in Greece, as well as those supported by Children First, are made up of women (single mothers).
Vulnerability Due to Poverty
37% of single-parent families are at risk of poverty, since it is more difficult for single mothers to find work. Overall, the risk of poverty is greater for women than for men.
Women´s Solidarity
To tackle the issue of women living in poverty, it is imperative that we assist single-parent families and support motherhood and childcare. We need to empower girls and women by investing in their education, in increasing women's employment and in their financial independence.
